Near-expiry: Items are usually 0–3 months before their use-by or best-before date. The labels are just guidance, though. It's always good to use your five senses to check for signs of spoilage.
Imperfect: The industry filters out some products with external imperfections, even though they're still edible and of good quality.
Surplus / overstocked: Excess stock in cartons, left over for various supply and demand reasons.
